Bio

Jay Gurney, soon to be known as Mr UK, is the Cardiovascular and Medical Imaging consultant working within the growing UK market. Jay joined Projectus in September 2020, following an extremely successful career in Commercial SME Insurance. Competing against the largest Insurance Brokers within the UK and becoming the #1 Salesmen in just his first year, Jay has moved into recruitment looking to add value to society wherever he can. He has a passion for helping those most in need, and see’s recruitment in the MedTec space as a way to do this on a regular basis.

Jay is known throughout the office for being very competitive, tenacious, and extremely rigorous with a keen eye for detail. He enjoys a seemingly insurmountable challenge and loves surpassing all expectations set for him. In doing this, Jay has set himself very high targets for 2021 and will no doubt achieve this with his continued hard work.

 

Expertise

Jay’s specialist areas include: Cardiac Rhythm Management, Heart Failure, Structural Heart, Vascular Intervention, Peripheral Intervention, Coronary Intervention, Cardiac Mapping, Electrophysiology, Cardiac Ablation, MRI, CT, PET & SPECT, Nuclear Medicine, X-Ray and Ultrasound Imaging, along with software for these devices.

Jay has shown a consistent ability to break company records, including the most calls made in one day. In doing so, he has quickly picked up the medical device space, developing many contacts along the way while developing a reputation for finding the strongest talent in the market.

 

Education

After obtaining his GCSE’s, Jay studied Law, Politics and Economics for his A levels. These subjects helped develop his analytical skills, giving him the ability to think both subjectively and objectively while maintaining completely impartial. Upon Receiving numerous opportunities to attend University to study Philosophy, Politics and Economics; Jay decided a career in Sales was his calling and therefore turned down University offers two years in a row. He is confident in his ability to sell, and therefore took a risk which he is also confident will pay off.

 

Personal Life

Outside of work, Jay is an avid car enthusiast who spends a disproportionate amount of time and money on his own vehicle, largely due to his awful driving ability. In his spare time, Jay runs a car group and regularly holds events for over 70 people at a time, bringing joy to his friends and terror to his neighbours. When Jay gets the chance, he likes to travel whenever he can, visiting Aruba, France, Scotland, Czech Republic and Holland last year.

When he isn’t dining out or swiping through Deliveroo, Jay can be found in the kitchen trying new and innovative recipes wherever possible. Described as the 22 year old Gordan Ramsey, Jay regularly enjoys cooking as it allows him to be creative and thus, takes away the day to day pressures found in this fast paced industry. As a self-confessed extreme competitor, Jay is a massive horse racing fan; attending races whenever possible, losing on a consistent basis. When he’s not at the races, Jay is a depressed Arsenal fan who wallows in there extremely poor form, causing feelings of emptiness and sorrow. Jay can be found living regularly in the past celebrating their 2003/04 season, surviving off the hope that the team of yesteryear will once again, like a Phoenix, rise from the Ashes and dethrone the young pretenders.
