YO, a subsidiary of parent company Medical Electronic Systems and A-TECH in California, are due to launch the first sperm motility testing home-kit today.
The differentiating factor with this piece of tech is that it provides not just the sperm count itself, but in indication into the quality of the sperm. To explain further Marcia Deutsch, CEO of Medical Electronic Systems, said
“If a man is producing 100 million sperm and they are all dead or not swimming, it’s useless to know your sperm concentration is “normal.”
The kit costs just short of $50 including2 per pack and is smart powered by all new I-phone models and the Samsung Galaxy s7. It contains pipettes, cups, analytical slides and a liquefying power. The sperm itself is extracted via the traditional method.
The ability to look for differentiating factors concerning patterns around peaks and dips in sperm quality could be ground-breaking. The additional information would also help with more effective timing around family planning and reassurance surrounding a couple’s attempts.
